birthday campout

every year, david wants a big camping trip with friends for his birthday. for example, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35 (well, maybe we didn't camp that year...), 34. i think i've made my point. we camp on david's birthday for the last few years,

this year, we went back to kohler andrae and camped in the sand with 25 our of dearest neighbor friends. the kids were filthy and happy, the food was delicious, and everyone had a wonderful time.

there were hot dogs,

boardwalk walks to lake michigan,

 

lounging in the filthy sand,

a little fishing clinic,

girl time,

boy time,

hackey sack time,


and rhubarb tort time.

big old camping crew,

and a little hiding out from the rain...

and some fire time when the rain went away.

there were unicycles (OF COURSE)


and slack lines and toddlers.


these kids were filthy

but after some rootbeer at the drive-in in plymouth,

mor mor gave them a sweet little laundry tub leg wash. which i imagine was a birthday gift to david. seriously. washing those legs was a big job, and it's nice to have someone else do it.

 happy birthday david. you are truly our happy camper.
