
and at first, it was super exciting. but then her face and bones and teeth started to hurt. before the pain started, we left home in the 92 degree heat for a 2 mile bike ride to the terrace for a celebratory dinner of brats and ice cream.... and by the time we got there, she was in pain, her lips were all ripped up from the braces, and there were so many tears. so. many.
the pickles and mustard stung her mouth. she can no longer eat the corn on the cob that she loves at the terrace. she dropped her ice cream cone. it was very hard, and very sad, and david and i clearly have no experience with braces and were completely caught off guard.

but she's feeling better about all of it now. no more pain, no more lip injuries, and we have all figured out what she can eat. i already can't wait until they come off this fall.
