all the big stuff in may

there's been some big stuff this may. there always is.

david ran a fast and cold and wet hilly long distance trail run, and no one went to cheer for him because the weather was foul and there was a soccer game and it was far away, but he did great! there are no photos, so just...you know...imagine it.

i ran my usual half marathon around lake monona, and as usual, i did it with wonderful friends. we had a blast from the start...

to the finish.

ramona toured her new school for next year (3rd grade-5th grade is in a different school). the jitters were high, and i think she felt much better after some friendly 3rd graders showed her around and then gave her and her friends a popsicle. i had the honor of chaperoning, which really meant watching from a distance as she became a big kid on big kid turf.

the basement is done done done, completed with loving care by this guy (my guy) who cut the new carpet squares perfectly to fit the floor. it looks SO good.

and a super big deal: the piano recital. it was james' first, and he went first! he did a great job and was so proud of himself and his hard work. we were so proud too. he struggled a lot to stay with it, to practice, to stay engaged, and it worked: he can play, and most importantly, he enjoys it.

this big girl nailed her 4 songs, and played beautifully on her pieces with a duet provided by her teacher.

and then, the unicycle. ramona is awesome. james and david are working hard to catch up to her skill level. i take pictures and marvel at all of them.
