new year

september sure feels like the start of a new year, more than january ever does. i mean, it's busy busy busy and life is always like that, but then there's the big jarring event when suddenly bedtimes matter, morning alarms are serious, lunches need to be packed, and kids need to be to school.

and this year, these two are back at lapham elementary together for the final year. as a K-2 school, james is the little guy in kindergarten, and ramona gets to be the big guy as a second grader. i can't believe how big these kids are.

they were solid on first day. no tears, only excitement. they had a great day, and we are off to a good start in a good place with good teachers surrounded by good neighbors. and, of course, best of all--those good kids of ours.
