shalom, camp shalom

the kids went to camp shalom again this summer. they loved it last year for 2 weeks, so this year we signed them up for the 3 week session. i love this camp: it's sponsored by the jewish federation, and there are some hebrew and jewish elements that exposes them to other religions and cultures and languages. but it's also outside, super active, has fun counselors with shockingly good staffing (there might be 1 counselor per every 2 kids), and there is a pool. there are art projects, song, dance, language, acting, games....the list goes on. and there are a ton of school and community friends at camp.

but the best part? it is one of the only camps i know that fits in the schedule of two working parents. bus picks them up across from our house at 8:30 am, and drops them off at 5pm. all other camps are half day, start at 10 am, get out at 2 pm.... i mean, what am i supposed to do with that schedule??

ANYWAY. today is the last day of camp shalom. they are tired, but happy. i think we are all going to miss it.

check out james' front row performance (stay tuned for his air drum solo...it is worth the 1 minute of your life) during parents' night this week.

ramona put on a play for all the parents this week at parents night....again, super awesome, because parents' night programming started at 6pm. this camp understands what i need.

and look at this big girl, singing camp songs at the top of her lungs on the drive back from camp after the late visit at parents' night.

and then these monkeys, trying to pose for a picture at the bus stop on their last day.
