summer is for sure, in full swing. we kicked our summer off on memorial day weekend with a trip to a wisconsin lake known for it's summer-getaway-goodness. it was fun for all kinds of reasons: the lake and the sun and the beach for the first time this year! the memories i have of waiting tables in this little resort town way way back in 1998! family time, friend time, relaxation time! it was great.
on our way into elkhart lake, we swung through my hometown to get some lunch. the A&W was a centerpiece of my summertime as a teenager in plymouth, so obviously we had to go to the drive in (no longer an A&W, now it's chester's, but belieeeeve me, it's exactly the same) to have some burgers and rootbeer while in the car. it's always a hit, with all of us.

after that we hit up elkhart lake, checked into our little hotel, and got down to the beach.
bumper boats=happy kids!
nachos and beach front seating while the kids play somehwere not at the table=happy parents!
later we got all clean and dressed and strolled over the siebken's, my former employer, to dine in the restaurant where i waited table.

the next morning was a rainy one, and we spent it wandering around the halls of the american club in kohler,
ooohing and aaaahing at the kohler design center,
and then having a delicious lunch with my parents.
lunch at the american club is never reallly complete until you've gone out to the green house in the garden for a scoop of ice cream.
don't worry. the sun came out, the rain stopped, and we did lunch completely.
then my hotel roommates were swapped out. the kids and david went home, and kate and steph arrived. we had a wonderful time, complete with more beach time,
and more siebken's time (including, but not limited to, time at the bar up the hill, where the jagermieister is always the drink du jour. GROSS.)
cheers, summer! we've been waiting for you!
