well, almost perfect. thanks to the time zone change, a child who naturally wakes at 6:30 am central time naturally wakes at 4:30 am pacific time. it took ramona 2 days to adjust to the new time zone, which means that david and i had 2 very early mornings. david, being the super dad and husband he is, took ramona for a walk both mornings so i could sleep a bit longer. they discovered which coffee shops open early, which parks are best to avoid prior to sunrise, and they found the most improbable business: cat boarding. can you imagine boarding your cat with a bunch of other cats? i can't. but apparently people do it; here is ramona peeking below the blinds, very early in the morning, to investigate this mysterious "cat boarding" practice.
once the sun came up and everyone else got out of bed, ramona and lila played all day. ramona used lila's blanket as a super hero cape,
we saw pelicans and cormorants being fed at a nearby wildlife rescue,
