cocoa kennedy

cocoa kennedy could be a real person. it probably is. but i'm using the term here to refer to cocoa beach, a little run down beach town on the atlantic ocean that we visited for 2 days after our EPIC MAGIC OVERLOAD in orlanda; and i'm using it to refer to the kennedy space center, which is an educational and entertaining nasa themed space place abut 20 minutes north of cocoa beach.

we had a big long beach day as soon as we got to cocoa beach.

 hotel room view

and hotel pool deck max relax.

ummm, as i write this, on april 15, this is what my back yard looks like. totally unacceptable, and i feel a longing for this cocoa beach deep in my bones.

ugh.

alright, anyway, we also went to the kennedy space center and i thought it was pretty awesome. the kids seemed like they had had enough learning, 3D movie watching, and loud overwhelming noises and sights, so they weren't as into it as we had hoped.

rocket garden

and mission control.

they're building for real rockets in there...

and this is a for real spacex rocket getting fixed up after a recent launch.

and a launch pad....the one where challenger took off from. it is still used today.

rockets
  shuttles,

landing modules,

and boosters. oh my!
