nana and papa are getting ready to sell their beautiful old beach house in grand haven, michigan. it's been their summer home for 13 years. that means it's been the place i visited them for every summer of my marriage. it's been the place where we brought our babies to play in the sand and waves. grand haven has been the place of fireworks and ice cream cones and beach days and burger dinners. it's been good. so so good. nana and papa have loved and cared for this home, and made it perfect in ways both physical and emotional. i will miss these walls and rooms and decks and stairs terribly, but i am so happy for them to prepare to move onto a new adventure.
this weekend marked my last visit to songbird, the house on the dunes. one last visit means one more morning beach town run with my running buddy,
one more sunset over the lake,
one more sitting-on-the-deck in the evening glow,

one more walk down this jungle path to the beach,
one more visit to the state park beach with one last sand castle construction,
and one more hammock swing with nana,
one more rest on the porch with papa,
one more visit with this sun-loving beach cat (don't worry, she'll go with nana and papa when they move)
and one more tram ride down the hill.
goodbye, songbird!

That was lovely. Thank you.
We won't have a view of the sunset, but there won't be any power lines in your pictures at the new house.
