and hotel hangouts with grandpa.
we stopped at one final road side attraction (and one that bears personal significance): the world's biggest prairie chicken. this guys always told us in childhood that we were getting SO close to grandma's house after the long 3 hour car ride from minneapolis.
we drove to minneapolis with my sister and her kids, to take a walk along the mississippi,
to have a daddy/uncle/all out wrestling match,
and to have one more sleep on the road.
on our way out town the next morning, we OF COURSE swung by minnesota's state capitol building. it's a beauty. (see those golden horses up there by the rotunda? when i was little, my dad told me that's where the golden delicious apple comes from. get it? horse apples. as if these golden horses poop out my favorite apple in childhood. that little story of his has always stuck with me).
