if the birthday was good, the year will be good, right? because if that's true (it sounds true) (i made it up), it should be another good year.

birthday eve? outdoor music, front row dancing, good friends.

birthday eve impromptu swing dancing with a stranger.

the next morning, ramona made me an okapi, and lila made me a cardinal bird. also, my california family was in my house, sharing my birthday morning with me.

we rode so far, we took a bike elevator, no one complained!

balloons, goofy lunch date buddies, free beer.

and when i got home, there was this. a surprise anonymous birthday decoration on my house, and it made me feel so so so much love.

i had candles to blow out in some watermelon, and later i ate my weight in oysters and fries (not pictured, which is lucky for you).

kate even sang to me while candle slipped around on a wet and delicious tres leches cake.

and when i finally finally took off the party hat and went back to work, guess what. those lovely coworkers of mine decorated my desk. sheesh. i love birthdays, and i love my people, and they love birthdays, and that really just completes the circle.
