shoot-skis

i don't think it's any secret that i think david is a pretty great guy. i don't make it any secret that i think i'm incredibly lucky that he married me and that i get to be his BFF. he is hilarious and clever and energetic and positive and supportive. he is so good in all his endeavors, and he is honest and true.

but you know what else he is? he is brave. he is enthusiastic. he is always willing to try, he is always willing to try and fail, and he is always going to say yes to fun, to challenge. i'm not like that, not always or even half the time, so watching him inspires me. this weekend, we got to watch him and his curiosity engage in a new fun and challenging experience. he tried his hand at the novice biathalon race at blackhawk. it sure looked fun!

here he is, sweaty from skiing a short distance as fast as he can, lying in the snow in his banana spandex suit, aiming a 0.22 gauge rifle at a target, and hitting 4 out of 5 targets accurately before hopping (well, wobbling) back up onto his skis to ski another loop around the course.

the kids thought it was pretty great, and were a very effective cheering squad as daddy hustled by on skis.

our friend and neighbor tim was there too, and here he is taking his turn on the rifles.

here's david shooting and getting up. it's pretty glamorous.

not one to be around guns and not go crazy, james brought his rifle style to the slopes, too. it was an excellent opportuntiy to talk about safety. pretty much all of life with james is an excellent opportunity to talk about safety....
