james tried his hand at adding a long bunny body to the bunny head he made with his babysitter. the red things down at the bottom of the bunny aren't kidneys, which i initially suspected, but are instead the eggs the bunny will lay for easter (!). we have some mythology AND biology lessons in our future, but for now, i'm so thrilled with this drawing.
james and i also took a little field trip to the modern art museum in madison last week to see the super cool installation by Do Ho Suh, who has sewn a gauzy to-scale mind-blowing replica of his apartment. it's supposed to make you think about the way we use and define space and home, and it does. it also makes me think about patience and detail and all those millions of tiny stitches to get the lines and angles and tension just right. it is an experience to walk through these floaty hallways, all stitched together to perfection.
james just about to enter into the apartment, where he pointed at everything amazing with his big eyes and pleasure in his voice, and i responded with "please don't touch that! please don't touch that!".
inside the apartment, buzzer panel
and toilet.
and speaking of art, my photography skills are crap, but ramona's butterfly skills in the pool are getting pretty amazing. she's got the dolphin kick, and just this week, she got those arms up and around and over, several times in a row. she's a fish.
in an episode of a live art installment on the front lawn, the kids took their bedding outside this weekend and arranged a new living space on the wet cold dead grass. they were inspired and creative and having so much fun. i was trying to control my irritation with what promised to be grass and mud in the house and in the beds and staining the blankets (breathe, breathe, breeeeathe....)

AND, we got a new dining room table that actually fits more than two adults for a meal (hallelujah!), and it a real beauty. come over and let us make you dinner!
