darn it

i had all these great pictures of rewarding time spent with friends this weekend, of james and his mohawk, of ramona on crazy hair day. but i lost my phone, and with it, i lost a few photos, several well curated shopping lists for upcoming birthdays and holidays, my grocery list (lists are a big thing in my life), and my general tool for connection. i feel a little untethered right now.


but i lost the phone doing what i love: i was skiing in the woods, all by myself, in the february sun, in the kettle moraine hills where i grew up, after spending the night with friends, and looking forward to getting home to my family. see? if you're going to lose a phone, this is surely the way to do it.
