big winter weekend

well, that was a pretty great weekend. so many wonderful things filled up our minutes and our hearts. starting on friday evening, david and i got out of the house for his holiday party with coworkers, and it was lovely. we got home just in time to greet his sister libby and her family, arriving after the grueling drive from michigan. it was such a treat to welcome them into our home, and see the kids' excitement to see them upon awaking on saturday morning. we had all the usual madison fun, including seeing the #1 ranked uw women's hockey team play the #2 ranked university of minnesota women's hockey team. wisconsin lost, but played well, and we had fun watching some very serious hockey action.

after the game, we drove through the super cheesy low-tech but high-reward holiday light display in a city park. it's pretty spectacular.

the next day, we woke with the gleeful joy of discovering snow outside our windows. our company left in the morning to get home through the fresh snow, while the kids suited up and got down to business making snowmen and snow balls and snow angels. when we were done playing, we made someone gingerbread cookies to take to a neighborhood cookie exchange party that evening. 

it was a good weekend.

later, this cutie asked to have her face painted, so i obliged. her requests: right cheek- menorah, left cheek- christmas tree ornament. then we made cookies. it was wonderful.
