little fishes

things don't really ever slow down around here, but every once in a while there is a natural end to an activity and we all cherish the free time it creates for a few weeks. lately, that thing has been swim lessons every tuesday afternoon. these were easily the hardest working swim lessons these kids have ever gone to, with full lengths swum in various accurate strokes, then treading water, kick boards, and diving to touch the  bottom of the deep end, all in the extra cold pool of the ymca. they didn't enjoy these lessons but they kept going with few complaints. it was heroic, and i'm proud of them. our tuesday afternoon free time has been well earned.
