autumn is the season of bounty and harvest, of exploding beauty to mask the arrival of annual death. before it sheds it's leaves, my mom's quince tree pushes out it's fruit and suddenly we've got pounds and pound of quince. right before the succumbed to end of season fungus and rot and rodents, a final push of tomatoes appeared on our backyard plants, alongside tomatillos, peppers, and all the herbs. this bounty requires boiling, blending, canning, heating, and storing and it is some serious work. it's work i love and work i hate, all at the same time.
anyway, we made an absolute ton of yummy quince jelly, so watch your christmas stockings, everyone.
we also snuck away to minneapolis to see the beckers and their new house in their same old 'hood, and took a walk on the mississippi banks. those colors were popping.
and those cousins sure do like eachother. it warms my heart.

the next morning breakfast crew
and the bball crew.
we grabbed some pumpkins at a farm stand on the way home, and got down to business.
