fargo time

i spent lots of time in the flat lands of fargo, north dakota as a kid. well, like "lots" of time as measured and perceived by a child. we always went to grandma's apartment, where she still lives independently today. i had such strong memories and fond emotions tied up in the sights and smells of that apartment, and getting to step back into what feels like a time capsule from my childhood is always such a treat.

there's the favorite pictures of grandma from childhood, on shelves in her basement,

and of course the green basement carpet. just heaven.

grandma let us pick through some stuff she was getting rid of in the basement, and then shared some of her incredible cross stitch projects with us. she is a talented and prolific cross stitcher, and i'm a luck recipient of her art, many times over.

speaking of childhood memories, these buggers made some of their own in the hotel pool that weekend.
