detroit lakes beach time

after fargo, cousins and sisters and mormor and morfar hit the lakes in northern minnesota. first we stopped for dinner in the city of detroit lakes, where a pretty rough game of beach football went down. the sisters engaged in selfies.



when we got to the rental house on cotton lake, the kids got into the hot tub IMMEDIATELY.


despite some initial windy and cloudy days, the sun appeared, the wind stopped, and gentle water times were had. loons called, kids played, bald eagles soared, smores were made. good times in the northwoods. this place we rented though... three levels of deck, tether ball, swings, football, and endless watercraft.

also, a dog appeared and played gamely with us for hours, and then we spent what felt like hours trying to return this dog to it's undisclosed home. it actually worked. she was a really good dog.

back at the lake, though, the sunsets were spectacular, and the kids' bedtime reading bunk room was amazing.
