loaded the car and hit the road, early on a saturday.
first stop (well, first planned stop....first actual stop was a rest area in indiana where ramona vomited in a toilet instead of inside the car, related to car sickness, and clean-car high fives were shared all around...). where was i? oh yeah: first stop was indianopolis for sandwiches at goose the market. delicious, with a side of fancy cheese mustache.
then we rode scooters around the central square,
ramona and i climbed the observation tower in the war memorial monument,
and we visited the grounds of the closed capitol building.
we had a little help with window washing,
back on the roads, headed south into the mountains, and starting to hear some "y'alls" and twang in the locals. as evening started to close in, we arrived at our destination: mammoth cave.
we found our adorable cabin,
got down to work on the junior ranger books,
and caught a few lightning bugs before bed.
