we've done the american birkebeiner a few times...at first we did the shorter race (korte) and then we started doing the longer race (birke, for short). readers here are aware. it's been documented extensively.
and then we got this idea that we'd like to do other ski marathons.
and then our friend said the same thing.
and then we were like "what better way to kick off a new decade of life [our 40s] than to accept new challenges and travel at the same time?"
and then we signed up for the mother of all the ski marathons: the original birkebeinerrent in norway.
i'm so terrified. it's in 301 days, and that's too soon to train for a 54k ski over two bald mountains.
this elevation map is scary looking.
but it's happening. i'm pretty excited.
(i think i just really really really want to go to norway).
