final ski

this weekend was warm and sunny and felt like confirmation that spring is really here. it came so fast, and arrived with such beauty! it was invigorating to get out the bikes, to feel the sun on our faces, to race up and down a sidewalk without having to salt/shovel/worry about the ice.

but it also made me feel extra glad that we snuck in an end of season trip to wausau for a last go at skiing one week ago. we grabbed some friends and hit up nine mile county park in wausau for some very excellent cross country skiing,






and then cozied up in a townhouse at the downhill ski hill for dinner and good times with friends (including card games and morning hot tub time) before getting ready for downhill skiing.





and this year: my kids can ski. and they have the stamina for it all day long. they skied in the trees! ramona skied the moguls with me! they skied on the black diamonds--even if they cried a little at the top! they skied right up until their ski passes stopped working at 5pm! it was an absolute joy of a day for everyone.




i love warm sunshine and spring, but i still really really love winter and snow and playing outside in the snow.
