the best big thing

my friend moved to madison! my dear friend kate from san diego came to madison, lives around the corner from me, brought her husband and baby and dog, and i've seen her a bunch of times and it's the BEST having people you know and love in your very own walkable neighborhood. i'm so psyched. i hope she's happy, too. i really really do.

look at these guys, at the recent neighborhood backyard party, drinking pbr and eating brats. they are WISCONSINITES.


and this weekend, we had some more super awesome good friends from college come to town.


we went to the willy st fair and found a unicorn to pose with.


later, we visited the terrace,



and then had some rooftop dinner on campus (the mothership, the birthplace of our friendships!). we  wandered down state street, past our old stomping grounds,


and had a nice glass of wine together after dinner.


to top it all off, we celebrated kate's baby leo's first birthday RIGHT HERE at leo's house in madison. remember when i flew to san diego last year right after he was born? i can't believe he's around the corner now, just a short year later.

james celebrated by holding leo. the rest of us looked on with bemused concern. leo's concern was less bemused.


i love my new neighbors. my old friends. it's the best.
