sometimes we go into the capitol building (actually, we go pretty often). it's usually just to go to the bathroom or fill our water bottles while up on the square for some awesome madison downtown event (FOR EXAMPLE: the ironman, a farmer's market, a symphonic concert, art fair, et cetera!). but sometimes, we go inside and we remember what a gorgeous and stately monument of american marble stone, filled with art and history, and we visit the observation deck and marvel at the site of our city, our lakes, our pastoral surrounding countryside. i just love these moments.
and there are more of these moments lately. when we go inside, the kids always want to stay and find the fossils. the kids have discovered that there are cool fossils in the marble stone in the building. there are huge nautilus on the walls in the hearing room, there is a long ancient octopus tentacle on the floor outside the supreme court, and there is a star fish fossil on the 4th of 5th stair on the 2nd set of stairs on the left in the north wing. i know this because we visit that starfish every time. i love watching the kids love this.
