cover girls

these chickens bring surprises to us on a pretty regular basis. david has had to do surprising hand-to-hand combat with a fierce raccoon, i've started eating eggs every day, and our compost is top notch, all thanks to these chickens. and just a few weeks ago, these chickens brought a reporter and a newspaper photographer into my backyard to talk about backyard chickens and issues involving urban argriculture. today, the story ran on the front page of the local paper, and me and michelle obama (also affectionately known as mudpit) were right there in the headline photo. a little weird to discover this morning over my coffee, but certainly fun!
