science expeditions

living down the road from a giant world class university has it's perks. big time. we have gone to lots of fun things, and last week was no different. we went to the science expedition on sunday afternoon at the nursing school, where there were tons of stations and interactions put on by students. the kids learned about braille, and hearts, and home safety, and lungs, and muscles, and all sorts of cool stuff. and it wasn't just my big alumni heart feeling all sorts of feelings about seeing the kids in my nursing school. they really are curious about stuff. i love feeding and watching their curiosity.

we used our bodies to balance peacock feathers (by the way, awesomely fun and easy trick)

we learned about the diabetic retinopathy experience, the macular degeneration experience, and other modes of sight limitation with some super hip goggles.

ramona typed her name on a braille typewriter

and james listened to normal lung sounds and asthma sounds

and they were super enthusiastic about fondling some preserved organs!

so i used it as an excuse to finally buy the thing i have wanted since i was a kid: an anatomy model with removable organs. thanks ebay! you're the best!
