souffle silence

when i was little, spinach souffle was just about my favorite winter meal ever. i loved it so very much, and watching my mom make it remains a very happy memory. one thing i remember clearly about the souffle preparation was my mom demanding that we be quiet, stay out of the kitchen, and never run around in the house when it was baking because all our noise would make the souffle fall.

i made souffle today. broccoli. it was so good.

there was no silence in the house, no stillness when it baked. there was, however, a raging fight between the kids, lots of running about in the house, and guess what. the souffle didn't fall. now i wonder if my mom saw souffle baking as an opportunity at some quiet for just 45 minutes. bravo, mom.
whatever works.

i mean, it's hard to imagine getting these two to stay quiet, still, or clean for 45 minutes.
