devil's lake state park is such a beautiful place. late september is such a beautiful time. last week, these beautiful things came together. add in happy kids, big climbing rocks, and clear blue water for a final end-of-season swim, and you've got a perfect day.

and so did james.

later, david and the kids took a swim and ramona had a launch into the sky, while i took a big fat nap on the beach.

we even saw a tiny little glimpse of early fall

on the drive home, we stopped at dr evermor's studio and forevertron, a magical little field absolutely full of mysterious wonders of reclaimed scrap metal, musical instruments, and soldering magic.  and total bonus: we ran into smooth dave and smooth molly b of blog fame.
