spring break, off the grid edition

after a lovely two days in santa cruz, we drove up to bolinas to spend time with my sister and her family on the edge of the world. bolinas is a tiny little off the map/off the grid coastal town north of the golden gate bridge, surrounded by dramatic mountains, beaches, and nationally protected lands. they live in a great spot, on a big lot that slopes down to a cliff over the pacific ocean. we spent time connecting, walking, beaching, and taking great joy in watching young cousins get to know each other and fall in family and friend love.

northbound on highway one, and crossing that iconic bridge. i wanted the kids to care more about it than they did, so we'll just have to try again.

upon arrival, our sweet curly headed nieces made sure we met the new cats. lila introduced us to stjarna, and elsa introduced us to cross-eyed paloma. they are great kids, and great cats.

we headed out right away, ready for a tide pool exploration hike, and a walk through the woods.

the next day, sunshine, waves, and sand digging joy on stinson beach

later, we soaked up some backyard sun, ramona tasted the bitterness of beer, and david and i did some sunset tree exploration in the big monterey pines on anna's dirt road.

anna and i snuck in a little trail run in the point reyes seashore on the palomarin trail. it was so. so. nice.

additionally nice were the happy waves of backpacking nostalgia while back on that trail. my last adventure in the point reyes seashore was such great fun.

and no trip to the bolinas beach town is complete without a wander on the beach and a little cousin surf gang pose on the grafftied beach barriers.
