cabin getaway

four hours due north from madison is the tiny community of manitowish waters, wisconsin. our friend jackie has a family cabin on a beautiful chain of lakes there, and on her visit from california last weekend, we were lucky enough to join her at the cabin. pontoon rides, a bonfire, a family canoe, a close encounter with some beautiful loons, and some very quality friend time ruled the weekend.

 luck was not on our side when weather and pests were concerned, but everything else was wonderful. it rained for the one full day we were there, and the mosquitoes were quite unlike anything i've ever seen before (think on a scale of locusts in the old testament in egypt).
