harder days

the little leg splint that was celebrated in the last post is sadly reported to not have been a life-sparing intervention in this post. the splint, removed 3 days later, improved nothing, and little barbara bush rapidly deteriorated. she (the baby chicken, not the real human former first lady) is no longer with us, bringing the brooder crowd down to 4. sad, but not entirely surprising.

also in the "sad but not entirely surprising" james has another facial injury, this time due to a park swing-to-the-face incident. yuck. poor little fella. david is studying for finals, ramona is having some nightmares, and i'm working kind of a little bit harder than maybe i want to be at work these days.

but we're still pretty happy. after all, the merry go round at ella's deli is open, the farmer's market is open, the flowers are blooming,  and we're still smiling.

Poor guy. That eye is something else, but the smile disguises it.

Ramona in jeggins' is probably one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Sorry about James' eye and the chick.
