a new year

a new year has started, and it looks to be a good one. david will finish law school, no one else will be born in my family and the kids are becoming older, funnier, more fascinating people. the cats are happy indoor/outdoor animals. the chickens... well, they're still alive and they sometimes lay eggs, so they're off to a good start this year too. david and I celebrated the start of 2013 by sneaking away from work all day yesterday while the kids were in daycare, and skied the fresh cold snow of the arboretum under clear blue skies. it was a perfect day. in fact, my new years resolution is to try to have more days like that.
