another golden girl is gone. blanche deveareux, our beautiful gold laced wyandotte, has met a most untimely end. she was a flashy lady, and a fine specimen of her wisconsin-originated-chicken breed. her death at the sharp little jaws of a possum was a sad and grisly affair, which has no doubt left our other chickens, rose and sophia, a bit traumatized.

actually, they're kind of dumb, and don't seem to be traumatized, or even notice that their friend is gone.

let us remember the beauty of this bird. here she is, looking fierce, alongside her even fiercer looking buddy sophia.
