today is officially a full month after ramona's birthday, and i still can't believe that she is 11. this age feels different than 10, bringing her to the precipice of change. i feel it in her thinking, her reasoning, her energy and approach the world has a more mature cirumspect nature. she grows and grows and i just sit back and watch in awe. i am certainly thrilled to see her mature into someone that i find easy to be around.
her birrthday was a sunday, and started slow and easy with a cardamom coffee cake and presents and lots and lots of zoom connections.
my 11 year old turns out to be an expert shoveler and helped me clear her new birthday snowfall, both from the driveway.....
....and from the skating rink we've been maintaining on the lake. she loves using the snowblower. this kid is a direct descendant of a proud line of satisfied lawn-mowers and snow-removers. i take a distinct joy and pride in lawn cutting and snow moving, and i'm pretty sure i got that from my dad.
we played golf on the lake with the neighbors, who created a "birthday hole" and brought out a cake and sang a song to both ramona and our neighbor denise, who shares ramona's birthday (and their son shares his birthday with james....weird).
ramona's dearest little buddy rose spent the afternoon playing on the lake and in the snow with us, and we wrote messages with our feet, which ramona tried to photograph. 
and the next weekend, we kept the party alive with a visit to plymouth for presents (new hoop earrings, put on by mormor), cake, tacos, and togetherness.
and giant cat cuddles.
