15 years

our anniversary snuck up on us last week, 15 years after we got married. it was a busy day of working at home, schooling at home, taking james to karate, delivering a meal to a family with a new baby, and just general busy buys busy normal life. no babysitters available because of COVID, no places to go because of COVID, and so it was just kinda...unremarkable.

but then my parents took the kids for the weekend and everyone won. the kids got some much needed adult-diversification time (they are getting pretty sick of us), and the grandparents got some grandkid time (much lacking these days), and david and i got some alone time. i was tempted to attack house projects, of which there are many, but instead we took advantage of the perfect september weather to play outdoors all weekend long.

tradition dictates that we start here: the annual selfie at the church doors, repeating the wedding day photos. this year features COVID style face masks. thanks 2020, you garbage year.

our kid free weekend featured a sunset visit to a beer garden, a long 40 mile bike ride around some lakes, early morning paddle boarding, and outdoor take out dinner from tornado with some friends on their brand new deck.

on sunday, we went to plymouth to get the kids, and took a sheboygan detour to visit my friend stephanie. at the scott compound, we found happy kids, trees starting to change color, and two satisfied grandparents in matching tshirts. here they are, out standing in their field, outstanding in their field.

back at home, ben hasn't quite figured out how to wear a mask. but he's so cute and not a human, so he gets a pass.
