as this school year draws to a close, james ends his time as a preschooler. and with the end of this year comes the end of two kids on different schedules, two kids in different places with different childcare needs after school. for me, that also means the end of time alone with james.

i have been spoiled rotten for two years. i have had a full day once per week with james during the school year while ramona has been attending school. we have wild adventures, or we build lego blasters, or we go to the grocery store and target, but we always have fun, and it always feel special. i had endless alone time (but such a short bit of it!) with ramona as a baby and toddler, and virtually none with james when he was born. i've seen these tuesdays for the past 2 years as his make-up time, and we've really made the most of it.

this summer, tuesdays are still going to be my day off, and tuesdays are still going to be fun, special, and full of adventure (and hopefully less of that errand-running...). and it will be all those things with both kids. i feel extraordinarily lucky to have special time with them during the week, and particularly lucky to have spent time with my wild five year old boy for past 100-odd tuesdays.
when school starts in the fall, he'll be in kindegarten, she'll be in second grade, and they'll both be at school all the days of the week. i'm gonna miss my special kid time.
