fancy frosty ball

the nursery school that we've been deeply connected to for five years had their annual frosty ball last week. every year in late february, all the kids and their teachers and parents get all fancy dressed up and dance to live music in the gym on a thursday evening while socializing and eating potluck dinner. it's a great event. the kids love it, we love it, and this year, it was a bittersweet party. it's our last year. james will be done with tenney nursery done in 3 months. david will (finally) be done with his role as president of the board in 3 months.

so it was through misty eyes that i watched james (one of the tallest and oldest kids in his class of 3-5 year olds) sing with his classmates "the wheels on the bus" the adoring crowd of parents and grandparents.

misty eyes because i'm a soft hearted woman watching my babies grow, and misty eyes because i remember SO LONG AGO when ramona was a one year old and james was a tiny newborn baby and i'd take them both to friday morning toddler time and sit on the floor and nurse my baby while my toddler fumbled around with toys and other toddlers, and sometimes would wiggle her diaper butt to "the wheels on the bus."

but now that little toddler is a big first grader, watching the evening entertainment with her fellow first grade friends, all of whom are tenney nursery alumni.

and james and his buddies, looking tenney nursery dapper, ready to sing for us.

we were all fancy that evening, and james only agreed to be in a picture if we took it under his lofted bed. naturally.

I love James in a bow tie. He's as sharp a dresser as his dad was at that age. Not that you're not a sharp dresser now, David.
