ice, ice baby

the ice is here, and we are ready.

we took a stroll on the icy beach of lake michigan with our dear friends in their cool new milwaukee hood.



after the beach visit, we wandered into the schlitz audubon center and met a tiny screech owl. if you look closely, you can see that ramona is dressed as a woodpecker, and sam is in a beaver suit. it all made sense at the time.


we also climbed up to the top of the observation deck at the nature center, and got a big face-full of wind and a big beautiful view of the lake.


this week, ramona's piano teacher was sick so we suddenly had a free afternoon to skate on the smooth slick black ice of lake monona with lots of neighbor and school friends.



we also spent some time with a very friendly ice fisherman,


and slurped up some hot cocoa with our buddies.
