halloween

i really wanted a family costume. you know, something light hearted and fun, something that we can all get behind because we read the book. maybe james and the giant peach characters? or charlie and the chocolate factory characters? or characters from some other roald dahl books...

BUT no. james and ramona wanted to be scary. skeleton and vampire scary.

we tried some face paint,


but it was too scary.


so we washed it off, ramona changed into a cat outfit, and david and i hopped on the bandwagon with witch and wolfman costumes and suddenly, we were all together as a family, and just the right amount of scary.


we had a fun party with all the neighborhood kids,


who then took their parents' phones and got pictures of the adults.



then it was trick or treat time.




now it's just endless candy-eating time, and it's making us all sick and irritable. thanks a lot, halloween.
