james a byron tried to make some yarn out of wool, you know...as you do when your grandparent's house is a museum grade colonial masterpiece.
david made a little scavenger hunt to lure the little people away from the antiques.
we went for a hike in the kettle moraine forest near my parent's house, and climbed the parnell tower. the kids ran up those steps.

they paused for a picture at the base of the tower.
the view at the top was gorgeous and colorful, like a rich paint pallette of yellows and oranges and browns and greens.
back down on the ground, we found some forts in the woods. we could hardly drag the kids away.
we drove into town for burgers, a quick visit with my dad while he did his historical museum docent work, then ran like wild animals up and down the local ski hill in the bright sunshine.

back at home, jamesy glowed with joy over his first birthday present of the year,

and everyone glowed and suffered in the bright afternoon sunlight. look at those uncomfortable faces. i love them all.
