we moved!

we did it! it took longer than anticipated, with more hiccups that we foresaw, and it added a few gray hairs to my graying head, but we did it. it's over.

saying goodbye to the old place on baldwin was harder and more emotional that i thought it would be, and frankly i just don't trust the new owners to love it enough. i'm sure they will. i'm sure i'll start to let go.

we took so few pictures, spent so few moments slowing down and savoring it, but here are  couple from the night before the moving truck came. this is the last night we slept on baldwin st.

and then the movers came.

and then it was over, and it was cleaned, and i nearly broke my heart in half.

we moved the cats,

and we gave away our last old chicken (goodbye nancy....she died two days later, in tragic circumstances, but that is a whole other story).

then we sold and bought some houses, right there in the room where it happens. he's a serious man. (and if you're curious, the kids were just sort of at home malingering in their stomach bug recovery, completely unhelpful and uninterested in all the chaos around them).

saying hello to the new place was ALSO harder and more emotional that i thought it would be. it's grosser, older, messier, bigger than previously thought. it's hard not feeling at home in your home. it is time and energy consuming to move in. but then those sunsets, and oh! it's all worth it.

we put up the tire swing

carried our dinner outside

got all the furniture in its spot

put in the pier

and....well, see? what did i tell you about those sunsets?
