camp!

last week was a major camp week at our house, and it was the first time the kids loved EVERY DAY of their week long camp. every morning they rose with smiles, and were eager to get to the thing that they were doing. usually, camp loses it's luster by day 3 or 4 for these two, but not this magic year. maybe it's their age, maybe it was the people, maybe it was the content of the activities, but they loved it, and i love that they loved their camps.

ramona went to girls rock camp, where she joined an all-girls rock band composed of other campers, wrote a song, composed her piano piece, and then recorded and performed a song at a rock venue on saturday. and she did the whole thing with a smile.



james went to his third skate park camp (third year in a row) and built on his skills and had a great time. he eagerly went back every day, and when another camper broke his wrist after a fall, james even stopped arguing about how he doesn't want to wear the wrist/elbow/knee pads that i make him wear every day.
