we stopped off for 24 hours in chicago on our drive home from michigan to sample some of the arts. first, we peeped the frescos at the palmer house.
then the kids got creative with their cloud gate poses.....
and then we watched the skaters

and then we ran ran ran through a dry fountain to get to dinner.
the next day, we had an exciting preview visit at the CIBC theater doors to say "hi" and "we'll see you soon" to hamilton...
but first, the art institute. this was the kids' first visit, and was so great. ramona noticed lots of similarities and same artists between the impressionist paintings here and at the met, and it occurs to me that these kids are surprising appetite and stamina for art museums..... so i'm making plans.

then we popped into the palmer lobby for a little pre-show refreshment,
but right after that, we were like "WHAT TIME IS IT?" "SHOW TIME!"
intermission lobby scene...
and post show glow and licorice!
and then we had a white knuckle drive home through a death defying blizzard.
you know what? worth it.
