our little travellers

it's no secret that some of the worst, most stressful (but thankfully brief) moments for us as parents in the last 4 years have occurred in hotel rooms and on airplanes. our poor little kids really just want to be at home, with their things, in their own beds, on their normal schedule. when we drag them onto planes, make them leave their time zone, and force them to sleep in closets in hotel rooms, they have historically dealt with their suffering by screaming. like, unabated screaming in public settings. poor babies.

anyway, the point of that sob story, is this: these last 2 flights? amazing. no (well, few) tears, well tolerated missed naps, and relative flexibility in the face of flight delays. it was amazing. i really mean it.

i guess they're ready for that 2 week trek in the australian outback that we have planned.

little boy, big planes, big excitement.

a sweet girl and her little sketch book, busily working at 38,000 feet.

mr relaxation.

the flight home started with some blizzard related delays, cancellations, and flight changing. it required a lot of patience, and they delivered. i didn't even mind letting them lay around on the floor at the gate. if this is what happens instead of a temper tantrum, i'm all for it.

can you imagine this guy as your seat mate? nothing like a standing diaper change in seat 11C. yikes.

so so so looking forward to being home.

Just to be clear, there will be no Australian Outback in the foreseeable future.
