friends! snow! hooray!

our friends chris and olivia and their little guy wes came to visit us this past weekend. we love them dearly, and had a perfect time with them. it is so nice to see wes and ramona and james all play together. when the kids play well together in the presence of 4 parents with iphones, it becomes a well documented event.

to makes things even better, we woke up to a surprise snow fall! sure, we've had some light dustings of snow in the past few weeks, but this was the first real thing. a few inches of cold fluffy stuff fell in big flakes overnight, and it has stayed around. it was such a nice surprise, and after our monday morning pancakes, we all bundled up (making sure that our tender california friends were extra bundled, to cover their tan california skin) and headed outside. there were shovels, sleds, snow balls, and plenty of mouthfuls of snow. good fun.

even benjamin franklin couldn't resist playing in the fresh snow.
