i love a parade

in less than 30 days, we've been to 2 parades. i thought they were awesome, and so did david and ramona. james, however, had vastly different responses to each parade. the first parade was the willy street fair parade, which, to be fair, is lead by a terrifying full sized dancing man in a gorilla suit, follow closely by a loud drum corps. if you have no concept of what to expect and are generally afraid of loud noises, this would scare you. and james was scared. like, shaking, terrified, scared. but then he got over it, got a balloon shaped like an airplane, and was happy again. he's been talking about that gorilla and people on drums ever since.

waiting on the parade with buddy sam. james does not yet know what fear of gorillas is.

the inexplicable insanity of the willy street parade

the balloons that fix everything.

and then, there was the homecoming parade this weekend. he loved it. he loved marching band, loud drums and all. he wanted to know where the gorilla was (sadly, not all parades have dancing gorillas).  he's been talking about bucky badger all weekend.

red beads, bucky shirt, candy bag, standing at the ready.

james managed the same trick at both parades: picking up the candy thrown to him and throwing it right back. touche, young james. touche.
