good bye summer beach

we always get to grand haven, michigan, to see david's parents a few times every summer. this year, our number of visits reached a record low: we made it only two times, for short visits. that is a sad thing, and a problem we intend to remedy next summer.

our time there last weekend was as wonderful as always, complete with a couples baby shower on the beach for two friends who are going to be the best parents. the kids had an awesome day with aunt libby while we were partying, documented here. there was more beach time and more family time, but by no means was there enough of either. we were so busy having a perfect weekend that we forgot to take any pictures.

that is, of course, any pictures except of our children. obviously.

we learned that the kids don't know how to "take a walk along the beach" with us. they see the water, they run straight in. clothes and all. in 70 degree morning air, and into 48 degree lake michigan water. crazies.

after the dip, the cold wet clothes were publicly disrobed, and two dirty kids rolled in the sand. we were thankful the beach wasn't busy that morning, because there was no stopping these two.
