we spent our long fourth of july weekend on the white beaches of lake michigan in grand haven with david's parents. usually we've been to michigan at least once by this time in previous summers, but some schedule details have conspired against us this year. it was so nice to finally get there and spend some quality time with nana and papa, and libby and bob!
we made holiday trifle,
sipped coffee in the morning sun,
and practiced being a cool dude.
the beach was nice and warm and sandy, but the water was too cold to swim. thank goodness there was a buff hero to carry kids above the water!

david and i got away to the channel in downtown grand haven (along with 20,000 other people) to see some explosives brighten up the sky.
and we all enjoyed traveling by ferry.
