james learned to snap the clips on his boat coat, and it is officially his favorite thing to do now. (he also totally freaks out if you try to do any other sort of clip or zip or button or clasp for him, and he insists that he can do it even though he really really can't--so that's fun).
but the waterfront life isn't just for kids. david's summer class schedule is always lighter than fall/spring, and this summer, he is taking his last class ever. he'll be done with law school in august, and officially done with all graduate and post-graduate schooling. for now. we're celebrating by having a babysitter every thursday night all summer long. it is tremendously freeing to have an evening out with your husband on a regular basis, and tremendously happy-making to go on a bike ride to the terrace at the union and watch the sunset and have a cold beer with your husband. these things used to be so so so normal to us, before law school, before kids. now nights like this are so rare, and all the more special.
so far, this has been an awesome summer.
