spring gardening

the flower boxes are planted, the vegetable seedlings are sowed, and the garden beds are weeded and mulched. yard work sure is a lot easier with a trusty little 2 year old helper.

look how she helps with the shopping in the green house!

and she is focused on weed control in the jurassic zone between our neighbor's house and ours.

sometimes the mowing can be so exhausting, so she takes a little rest stop on the mower. naturally.

at least the garden boxes are made, filled with rich compost and planted. they're not exactly in "full sun" or really even "partial shade," so i'm not sure if we'll be feasting on our own onions, chard, spinach and broccoli. only time will tell.

Did you make those raised garden boxes yourselves or is that a kit one can acquire somewhere in town?

The raised beds were from a kit from Home Depot. I was actually purchasing lumber to build raised beds when I saw the kits. It was really easy and maybe even cheaper than buying the lumber. Each kit makes one 4ft x 4ft bed. they can be linked together side-by-side, or one on top of another (if you want them deeper).
